Certified Organic- Grown, harvested and processed without the use of pesticides, chemical fertilizers, herbicides, GMO's, synthetic chemicals, growth agents, and free from irradiation and chemical sterilization. All certified organic materials are certified though OTCO or CTCO, a USDA accredited third party certification agency.
Wild-harvested- Items gathered from their natural environment, such as woodlands, prairies, deserts etc. All wild-harvested items are taken to separate facilities for further processing. All wild-harvested items gathered and contracted for Mountain Rose Herbs must sign a preliminary "Wild Take Audit" to insure that materials are sustainably gathered with a no more than 10% take, and that the plants are re-seeded or roots are left to re-stock native populations.
Cultivated Without Chemicals- Grown without the use of pesticides, chemical fertilizers, herbicides, GMO's, synthetic chemicals, and free from irradiation and chemical sterilization. Unlike materials sold as certified organic, our growers of these materials have not had their operations certified through a third party certification agency, but they have acknowledged the rejection of the aforementioned growing methods. All items listed as "Cultivated Without Chemicals" have been tested free from pesticide, organophosphate, and carbamate residues through our laboratory.
The Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) is a benchmarking organization that provides thought leadership and guidance on food safety management system controls necessary to assure the safety of the food supply chain. Through GFSI's benchmarking process, the organization recognized minimum food safety requirements. GFSI is not a scheme in itself and it does not carry out any accreditation or certification activities.
Thistle Dew! is certified with a GFSI recognized scheme through International Featured Standards (IFS) Food, a world recognized standard of third-party auditors. IFS Food is equivalent to other GFSI recognized auditors including Safe Quality Food (SQF) and BRC Global Standards. This audit sets strict requirements on internal areas including Senior Management Responsibility, Quality and Food Safety Management Systems, Resource Management, Production Processes, Measurements, Analysis, Improvements and Food Defense.
Certified Organic means that a non-profit, state or private certification organization, accredited by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), has verified that products labeled as organic meet strictly defined organic standards. At Thistle Dew! our products are certified by Quality Assuarnace International (QAI). QAI is an ECOCERT equivalent and meets international (IFOAM) standards of organic accreditation. This assures that our clients are receiving traceable, reliable products from origin to plate.
Thistle Dew! is annually certified by the American Institute of Baking (AIB) International under the requirements of their Consolidated Standards of Prerequisite and Food Safety Programs. This certification shows that GCI is committed to doing all we can to provide clean, safe and superior products to our customers.
Thistle Dew! is Halal certified by the Islamic Services of America because we are dedicated to providing consumers with high quality Halal products that are guaranteed to meet Shariah standards. Islamic Services of America is an internationally recognized cerifier and is the only recognized Halal certifier for all categories of consumables. With this certification, GCI is able to deliver superior tasting flavors to Halal markets and consumers worldwide.
Thistle Dew! is kosher certified by the world's largest and most recognized kosher certifier, the Orthodox Union. Being OU kosher certified means that GCI products are produced to the highest world wide standards.
Thistle Dew! is also kosher certified by KOF-K Kosher Supervision. KOF-K is an internationally recognized certifier and meets the highest levels of Kashrus (Kosher Law).
